About EnergyOptimizer
Why this exists
Energy costs in Europe have risen dramatically in recent years and continue to grow. For millions of people living in older buildings, heating is one of the largest household expenses — and much of that money is lost through poorly insulated walls, roofs, and windows.
The problem is not that solutions don't exist. Insulation works. Modern windows work. Renovation programmes with EU funding exist. The problem is that most people don't know how much heat their building actually loses, which elements are the weakest, and where improvements would have the biggest impact.
A professional energy audit answers these questions — but it can be costly and requires a specialist visit. That's a barrier for most homeowners and apartment residents.
Our mission
EnergyOptimizer makes building thermal assessment accessible, instant, and free. We believe that understanding your building's energy performance should not require an expensive audit. It should take minutes, not weeks.
In a time of energy vulnerability, when heating prices rise every year and climate targets demand better buildings — people need clear, data-driven answers: Where does my heat escape? Does my building meet the standard? What should I improve first? How much will I save?
That's what EnergyOptimizer does. Based on EN ISO 6946 calculation methodology and verified against LBN 002-19(Latvia's national building standard), our calculator gives you a thermal performance estimate in seconds — with compliance checks, improvement suggestions, and savings projections.
Who's behind this
EnergyOptimizer is built by Ivan Opanasiuk — a software engineer with over 10 years of experience in international IT projects and an academic background in construction engineering from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, where his research focused on thermal properties of building materials, insulation systems, and energy-efficient construction.
This combination of engineering knowledge and software expertise is what makes EnergyOptimizer possible — a tool built by someone who understands both the physics of heat transfer and the technology to make it accessible to everyone.
The project operates under SIA Shimunia, a company registered in Latvia.
What's next
We're just getting started. Our roadmap includes:
- Downloadable PDF reports for renovation planning
- More building standards — Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, EU nZEB
- Tools for building managers to assess entire building portfolios
- Partnerships with insulation manufacturers and renovation companies
